MuseHub System Requirements for Windows and macOS
MuseHub supports 64-bit Windows 10 20H1 / 2004 / build 19041 or later and macOS 12 or later. MuseHub recommends Windows 11 and macOS 13 or 14 for the best experience. The desktop app does not support 32-bit operating systems, and Linux users receive MuseSounds Manager rather than the full MuseHub marketplace.
Use a 64-bit PC running Windows 10 version 2004/build 19041 or newer, or a Mac running macOS 12 or newer. Windows 11 and macOS 13 or 14 are recommended. There is no official full MuseHub marketplace app for Linux; MuseSounds Manager provides Linux access to MuseSounds. Individual catalog products can have stricter CPU, memory, disk, plugin-host, or operating-system requirements.

Windows requirements
The official minimum is Windows 10 20H1, also known as version 2004, with build 10.0.19041 or later. MuseHub recommends Windows 11. The downloadable Windows installer is labeled x64, and 32-bit Windows is unsupported. To check a machine, open Settings > System > About and review Windows specifications plus System type.
A supported Windows version is only the baseline for the manager. Audio applications and plugins can depend on newer processor instruction sets, a compatible graphics system, a specific plugin host, or additional runtime components. MuseSounds can also place greater demands on memory, storage throughput, and processor performance during score playback than the MuseHub app itself.
MuseHub normally installs applications under C:\Program Files. VST3 plugins are generally installed under C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 and AAX plugins under the Avid common plugin folder when a product supplies that format. A work or school policy can prevent writing to these locations even when the Windows version is supported.
macOS requirements
MuseHub officially supports macOS 12 and later, with macOS 13 or 14 recommended. The published installer is Universal, which is intended for current Intel and Apple silicon Macs. Universal packaging does not guarantee that every catalog plugin supports both architectures, so review the product page before installing a third-party plugin or application.
MuseHub needs to run from the Applications folder and requires permission to update and manage local content. Under System Settings > Login Items, the MuseHub entry should remain enabled in Allow in the Background. Turning that permission off can make the catalog appear functional while downloads, updates, or installs fail to finish.
Applications normally install to /Applications. VST3 and Audio Unit plugins use standard folders under /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins. MuseSounds, loops, and courses are stored under the user's Library/Application Support/Muse Hub directory. Confirm that the user account can write to those locations and that security tools are not silently quarantining components.
CPU, memory, storage, and network planning
MuseHub does not publish one universal CPU, RAM, or disk requirement for everything in its catalog because the managed products differ. The manager can install a small application, a complex effect plugin, or a multi-gigabyte orchestral sound library. Use each product page as the authoritative requirement for that item.
For MuseSounds and other sample content, free disk space should exceed the advertised content size so the download, temporary extraction, installation, and future update can complete. Very small remaining disk space can produce failures that look like network errors. A fast internal SSD generally improves library scanning and playback compared with a slow or intermittently connected external drive.
A stable broadband connection is important for large libraries. Avoid sleep, VPN switching, drive disconnection, or aggressive cleanup software during a download. If you use metered internet, confirm the expected product size before starting. MuseHub's Windows/macOS installer article does not publish the installer file size, and this site does not guess it.

Plugin and product compatibility
MuseHub can list VST3 and Audio Unit plugins, but the presence of a product in MuseHub does not prove that every digital audio workstation can load it. Windows hosts commonly use VST3. macOS hosts may use VST3 or Audio Unit depending on the application. AAX products are intended for compatible Avid hosts. Verify the plugin format, processor architecture, and minimum host version before installation.
MuseSounds have a narrower role. They are playback expansions designed for MuseScore Studio. They rely on compatible MuseScore Studio and MuseSampler components and should not be expected to appear as ordinary instrument plugins in another DAW. Audacity is a separate application. MuseHub can distribute it, but Audacity's own compatibility and plugin support determine what it can load. Installing MuseHub does not automatically make every MuseHub plugin available inside Audacity.
Linux support and MuseSounds Manager
The official MuseHub system requirements article does not present the full MuseHub marketplace for Linux. Instead, Linux users who want free MuseSounds are directed to MuseSounds Manager. The official download collection provides x86_64 DEB, RPM, and unpackaged TAR options.
MuseSounds Manager has its own Linux requirements. The current official changelog shows version 2.2.1 build 953 dated June 24, 2026 and notes a 2022 baseline requirement. That version information applies to MuseSounds Manager on Linux, not to the Windows or macOS MuseHub app. Do not transfer the Linux version number into Windows or macOS download metadata.

What to do on an unsupported system
Do not download an old MuseHub installer from an unknown mirror simply because the current app rejects the operating system. An obsolete installer can depend on services that changed, lack security fixes, or fail to authorize current products. It can also leave old background components and content paths that complicate a future migration.
Some apps and content available through MuseHub may also be distributed by their original developers. MuseHub support explicitly notes that users on unsupported systems may still be able to install an individual app from its developer's official website, depending on that app's separate compatibility requirements. Use a first-party source and verify the product license.
If hardware supports a current operating-system update, upgrade and back up the computer before installing MuseHub. If it does not, consider a supported second machine for MuseHub-managed libraries or remain with independently supported software that matches the existing system.
